Factory Trainer

Kinnerton Confectionery, Fakenham NR21 8AF 

 

Position type: Permanent Full-Time 

Hours: 37.5

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:30

Pay range: £35,000

 

You will be required to work flexibly on occasion to align with operational shift patterns. This will include one night‑shift visit per week and occasional adjusted start/finish times to support the full site operation.

 

As a Factory Trainer at Kinnerton Confectionery, you will play a vital role in developing the capability, confidence, and consistency of our factory teams. You will be responsible for delivering practical, hands‑on training, completing competency assessments, and ensuring that all colleagues work to our operational, safety, and quality standards.

 

This is a highly practical role, with around 60% of your time spent on the shop floor delivering training and assessments, and the remaining 40% focused on updating records, supporting documentation, and maintaining training accuracy.

 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys training, building strong relationships, and supporting colleagues. You will help drive the training process, ensuring colleagues gain the skills and confidence needed for their roles.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver clear, hands‑on training to Operatives and Team Leaders on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), skills, tasks, and safe working practices.
  • Train employees on factory equipment to ensure they can operate machinery safely and correctly.
  • Support both individuals and groups, adapting training.
  • Carry out competency assessments using tablets, ensuring staff meet skills and standards required for their roles.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure updates are reflected in documentation.
  • Write and update SOPs when needed and train teams on any changes.
  • Visit night shift once per week to support, assess, and engage colleagues across all shifts.
  • Work closely with Plant and Shift Managers to plan and prioritise training activity.
  • Support ongoing developments.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience delivering training (“buddy” training is acceptable) this can be from any background.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident delivering training to both groups and individuals.
  • Competent Microsoft Office user (Word & Excel).
  • Comfortable learning new systems and digital tools.
  • Good people skills with a practical, hands‑on approach.

Desirable

  • Manufacturing or factory environment experience.
  • Understanding of SOPs or compliance standards.
  • Formal training qualification (e.g., Train the Trainer).

Our Fakenham site operates across three key production areas - Novelty, Nut, and Moulding, each led by a Plant Manager and supported by dedicated Shift Managers working on a 4 on 4 off pattern across days and nights.
